Pat Durgin Wall Art

Pat Durgin grew up during the time when abstract painting was very popular. She was born in Washington D.C. in the Virginia suburbs. She loved art since her childhood. Her most memorable moment was when she received positive reviews during her kindergarten years for coloring book activities. Pat was not happy with public schools’ art classes and therefore spent many hours at National Museum of Art in Washington. Here she was fascinated the techniques and final product of the great masters and enjoyed their works. Shortly afterwards her family moved to Greece (Athens) where she taught children from the United States Embassy lessons in painting and art. When she returned to the U.S. she did commissioned portraits in colored pencil in the office of the Art Judge Advocate General where she was employed. In 1958 got married and she moved with her husband to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Here she found a diversified, large and very active arts community.

In 1964, the family moved to Las Cruces temporarily – they already had two daughters - here she continued exhibiting with the local Art Association and producing paintings. Her art received much acclaim and she became very successful. Her success has been attributed to her dedication to her work. She’s much sought after and always has some work in progress. Her art adorns the walls of many prestigious buildings in Washington D.C. and beyond. Pat is very careful when in comes to the choice of her subjects. She has to ensure that they are subjects that her viewers can relate to.
